چکیده
The Effect of Intraarterial Papaverine on the Regional Cerebral Blood Flow in Patients with Stroke or Intracranial Tumor • The effect of intracarotid injection of 10 mg of papaverine on regional cerebral blood flow was measured in 27 patients. Most of the patients had cerebral infarction or intracranial neoplasm. The intra-arterial Xenon injection method was used and 16 or 35 regions of the diseased hemisphere were monitored. In patients without focal flow abnormalities an average flow increase of 93% followed the injection. In patients with focal abnormalities of cerebral blood flow the intra-arterial injection of papaverine produced a decrease in focal flow or less increase in flow than normal. It is concluded that vasodilator therapy presumably decreased flow in pathological tissue and that such treatment should not be employed in the therapy of cerebrovascular disease. ADDITIONAL

Effect of intra-arterial papaverine on regional cerebral blood flow in hemodynamically relevant cerebral vasospasm.
BACKGROUND AND PURPOSE It remains controversial whether the intra-arterial administration of papaverine (IAP) is effective in reversing vasospasm-associated cerebral hypoperfusion after aneurysmal subarachnoid hemorrhage. The aim of the present study was to continuously assess regional cerebral blood flow (rCBF) during and after IAP with the use of quantitative, bedside thermal diffusion flowme...
متن کاملA survey of intracranial blood flow velocity in thalassemia intermedia in Khuzestan Province, Iran
Background: Beta-thalassemia intermedia (BTI) is a type of hemoglobinopathy with an increased risk of cerebrovascular accidents, and transcranial cerebral Doppler ultrasonography (TCD) through determining the mean cerebral blood flow velocity (CBFV) can serve to predict the risk of a developing stroke. This study aims to compare patients with beta-thalassemia intermedia and healthy individuals ...

Relationships Between Cerebral Perfusion Pressure and Regional Cerebral Blood Flow in Patients With Severe Neurological Disorders • Three patients, one with a recurrent brain tumor, one with a severe brain contusion, and one with a brain abscess, are described who had continuous monitoring of the intracranial pressure with epidural and/or ventricular pressure transducers, continuous monitoring ...
متن کاملThe Findings of Transcranial Doppler Ultrasonography in Patients with Ischemic Stroke
Background: Stroke is a multifactorial disorder, the most common cause being arterial occlusion. Transcranial Doppler Ultrasonography (TCD) is a common non-invasive method available for assessment the arterial blood flow of the brain. Objective: Assessment the hemodynamic parameters of cerebral arteries, using TCD device in patients suffering ischemic stroke. Materials and Methods: This descr...
متن کاملResults of Transcranial Doppler in Children with Sickle Cell Disease: Correlation between the Time-Averaged Mean of Maximum Velocity and Some Hematological Characteristics
Abstract Background: Transcranial Doppler ultrasonography results have not been previously studied in among Iranian sickle cell anemia patients. The present study was performed to evaluate the pattern of intracranial flow velocities among Iranian children with sickle cell anemia and the hematological parameters that can affect the time-averaged mean of maximum velocity in major intracranial...
